A very pleasant place to stay
We spent 2 weeks at the apartment which was great. It is bright, comfortable and clean and contains all the essentials. The location could not be better, a quiet residential area by the sea. Street parking is free and it is approximately a 15 minute drive to the city centre. We found Iverna (the owner) charming, accessible and helpful. We would like to stay there again.
This will have been my 4th visit to Sandymount in the past six and a half years. I wanted to write my review this time before I left to return to Arizona in the United States tomorrow, while everything is so fresh on my mind. First...it's really hard to leave. This has become a second home to me. I can't imagine staying anywhere but 21 Strand, Dublin 4, Ireland...really. I am within a week of being 69. I often travel alone. I hike, run, kayak. (Lucky, I know! :) I truly love to travel by myself, because it allows me to interact with those who live in the places I visit, rather than (mostly) with those I'm traveling with...or, worse...be held to a tour bus schedule. The accommodations here are not only comfortable in their own right (check out the amenities!), but they allow you to feel like you really "live" here and can safely interact with those you meet. The air coach to/from the airport brings you nearly to the door. The bus to City Center is footsteps away.
DART to nearby cities and trains (that go further), is approximately 1 kilometer away. Groceries, pub, bike rental, coffee shop, butcher, bakery, pharmacy, florist, really great restaurants...less than 1/2 a kilometer away...in the loveliest village in Ireland...and I've visited quite a few! Walk out your door, and there's the Strand and the Irish Sea, and a lovely promenade to walk. Want to just "veg" for a day...catch up on laundry or TV news...read a book outside on your "patio"...research a day trip on the internet (all the times and locations are right there...even for the tech-challenged like me!)...soak in the tub after a long walk or hike...take a nap on a very comfy bed (I've slept on both, and they both qualify)...all right here...in the apartment. My only consolation as my visit this year comes to an end, is that if I don't leave, I can't return. Next year... ( :
Just returned from my third stay at Seaview--and will return again in September! Seaview has become my home away from home in Dublin. The apartments are clean, comfortable, cozy, and well-appointed. Iverna is a welcoming host. The location is simply perfect--on Sandymount Strand, a short stroll to Sandymount Green and Village. The Village has everything you need--fantastic restaurants, pubs, pharmacies, wine shop, craft butcher shop, book and gift store, Tesco, and more! The Dart station is also convenient--10 to 15 minute walk. Cabs to Dublin and surroundings are easy to catch in the Village. Perfect!
We had a wonderful vacation in Dublin and enjoyed our stay at Seaview. Being beside Dublin Bay provided an added attraction, and we found the transportation to be very convenient.
Staying on the Strand helped us to see more of Dublin than we would have had we stayed in a downtown hotel.
The accommodation was clean, comfortable and spacious. The nearby village of Sandymount was charming with shopping and restaurants very handy. We would happily recommend a stay at Seaview to our friends and family.
We spent six days in this beautiful apartment in Sandymount and we would definitely recommend it. It is equipped with everything you need, from wine glasses to alarm clock, and very spacious and clean.
If it had been rainy, we would have relaxed more on the cozy couch and armchair in front of the fireplace. The bedroom is comfortable as well with very nice linens and good lighting. There was some construction on the road in front of the house during our last two days, but apart from that, it was nice and quiet and we slept soundly.
The beach is right outside the house, and you can take a nice stroll (or jog, like we did) to the lighthouse. Sandymount village is only a 5-minute walk away and offers good shopping and dining options and a peaceful contrast to Dublin's bustling city center. The owner provided some very good recommendations regarding grocery shops and restaurants.
The bus to Dublin's city center is right outside the door and it takes only 10-15 mins to Trinity College, which makes this apartment the perfect base for visiting the many sights. As the DART station is within easy reach as well, you won't need a car to explore picturesque seaside towns like Howth or Bray either.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this apartment and would choose it again for our next trip to Dublin.
In early August of this year my wife and I had the delightful experience of staying for a week in this excellent apartment. We found it to be clean and tidy on arrival and its location, layout and decor gave it a very restful aura.
If you seek a comfortable and quiet apartment then this is it. To reach a safe beach and long esplanade we only had to cross a narrow roadway. The weather was good and the beach, walkways and many esplanade seats allowed us to walk to our hearts content or just sit and gaze at the wonderful views of Dublin Bay, whichever took our fancy.
Alternatively, we only had to walk a short distance (5 minutes) up a side street to reach Sandymount village. This village, with its small central green, surrounding small shops, pubs, restaurants, and a church, has that charming old world feel about it. Tescos and other smaller stores gave us plenty of choice of food and drink (including the alcoholic variety!)
Having sampled the seaside and then the quiet buzz of the village on our first 2 days, on day three we decided it was time to visit the city centre! This involved walking about 30 metres from the front door of our apartment to a bus stop where a number 2 or 3 bus (which passed about every 15 minutes I think) took us directly into the city centre in about 10 minutes. We were able to get off close to Trinity College, one of our favourite spots. The bus journey cost us 1 Euro 60 cents each for a return ticket - very cheap. Having spent a few hours soaking up the noise, excitement and bustle of the big city, we were delighted to get back on that bus in the evening, knowing the beautiful, and oh so quiet spot we were returning to in Sandymount.
On another day we walked through Sandymount village to the local Dart station (railway - took us about 15 minutes walk) and took the train to Bray (a trip of nostalgia for us - fond memories of younger days and all that). Again, the cost was minimal.
Did I mention we had a car? Well, we did not need it to be frank, and it sat all week in a quiet side avenue. As we live in Northern Ireland we could just as well have travelled here by train or bus.
All in all this was a delightful holiday for us and this apartment and its location was the main reason for its success. We have no hesitation in recommending it as a base for a holiday.
We enjoyed our stay here very much. A spacious and clean apartment in a fantastic location! 5 mins drive from the City Center and overlooking Sandymount Beach. The owner was very welcoming and obliging. We would certainly stay here again, especially as our well behaved dog was allowed to stay also!
My son and daughter and I have traveled extensively in Europe, and Seaview is among our favorite places to stay ever. It gets our highest marks re: location, convenience, overall amenities, hospitality of the owner, view, and proximity to everything we wanted to see.
The apartment is roomy, attractively decorated, and immaculate. It is one of the best values for the money we've ever found, and there is no doubt that we will stay at Seaview any time our travels bring us back to Dublin.
It was truly a home away from home! All details of our transaction were also expertly handled, and the owner was available for advice and support during the stay whenever we needed her. This will be a place we will return many times, and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful setting in Dublin with all the comforts of home.
When i chose this property I did not know what to expect. Once I got there I felt right at home. It was like my home away from home, it was very inviting and cozy. I would highly recommend anyone to come and enjoy a great experience in Dublin.
I recently spent a month in this delightful apartment. It was my second stay in the past 6 months.I would not consider staying anywhere else in the Dublin area. The flat is exceptionally clean, well-appointed, and very comfortable.
I was by myself and chose not to drive. It simply was not necessary as I was so close to the lovely village of Sandymount for all my needs and never concerned for my personal safety at anytime of the day or night.
I was equally close to excellent bus service to City Center and access to a lovely coastal promenade and park path for jogging or walking. Even the airport coach dropped me off within meters of the front door! You really can't find a better nor more lovely accommodation when staying in the Dublin area. Lynn
